Setting off on a long road-trip with young kids on the rear seat can be very challenging and the parents need all the sources of entertainment they can get to keep the kids busy and happy during rides. Here are a few games that you can play with your kids in between naps:

• The name game – someone says a name and the next player has to say a name that starts with the last letter of the previous name. The game seems fairly simple, but it can keep kids entertained for hours, sometimes even after the ride is over;
• Storytelling – someone starts telling a story, but tells only a sentence or two, then the next player has to pick up the story line and add one or two sentences of their own. The game is entertaining for kids of any age as well as for adults and can be played any amount of time, with stories becoming lengthier and funnier with each sentence;
• Reading license plates – obviously a game for kids who can read and have some knowledge of geography as well, the license plate game involves spotting cars that come from the state that is the furthest away from the road that you are traveling on.
